Taiwan Taipei free and easy: Massage and Karaoke 按一個讚舒壓按摩棧

按一個讚舒壓按摩棧
臺北市大安區復興南路二段102號2樓
102 Daan district City Fuxing south road section 2 Taipei
(02)2325-3308 (02)2325-3309
After all the eating and shopping at Taiwan, found a place to go for a massage. The place is cute and clean. The masseurs are visually challenged but professional.
It is owned by a famous Taiwan singer.
Charges are 500nt for every 1.5 hours. They have foot massage and body massage. Best to give a call and enquire and make a reseravation before going down.
Right below the massage, on the first floor. There is this shop 永和豆漿大王, serving good soya bean and you tian (fried dough).

A good way to rest the tired legs is to go sing Karaoke. For every karaoke room in Taiwan, it comes with a toilet. It is good for people who has to go toilet constantly. Their karaoke place are every grand, and is a few storeys high. Therefore, it is quipped with a lift. I always wonder if I step into a night club by accident.Different branches have different pricing, more popular branches will be slightly more expensive. It is cheapest to go in the morning as there is 40 percent and weekdays are cheaper. The price list is Taiwan dollars and is the pricing is for per hour. However, each person is supposed to spend at least nt$99 on food and drinks, can combine the amount to purchase food and drinks.
The negative thing is there is no hanyu pin ying so we have a bit of difficulty looking for the songs. However, the selection of chinese songs is definitely better.

Taiwan TAipei free and easy : Dongmen 東門捷運站 food part 1 永康街

We choose to stay near 永康街, which is just beside dongmen train station  東門捷運站. We did not choose the usual ximenting as this trip is to catered to my elderly parents. Ximenting seems to young for their age. And definitely because of Chainn Hotel as it is new and just beside the train station and is not a hostel.
Dongmen is definitely filled with good food.
One of the best place to filled up one's stomach when the night markets are still not in operation
All this resturants can be located by taking the train to Dongmen station and exit 5.
We did not get to try a lot of food. Here is some recommendations.

1. First STop, Ding Tai Feng 鼎泰豐One of the most famous restuarant or eateries at TAipei It is just located by the road with a big signboard, so you can't miss it. We went there around 3pm, the waiting time was just around 3 minutes. The xiaolongbao is definitely good. The noodle serving is quite big, so share if you want to leave some space in your stomach for the xiaolongbao. Service is definitely good and food is served up real fast. The menu is just outside so you decide on your order while waiting for your table. The food is always good.

2. Sun Merry Bakery 聖瑪莉
Personally, I did not try the bread. My parents did and they say it is quite nice.
I read some good reviews on it online. Worth to try.

3.  红樱花食品

I did not buy from this shop. It is just beside Sun Merry Bakery. They sell Hello Kitty Confectionary, like biscuits and pastry. Anyone who is looking for cute gifts to bring back home, can get it from here. Free samples for some items.

4. Smoothie House 思慕昔 MAngo shaved ice 雪酪芒果雪花冰
They ran out of mango and they gave us sour kiwi in replacement. They just expect us to agree.
The mango shaved ice is good but a bit pricey, It cost a good nt$180-nt$190 for one servings. One servings can feed two. It is so famous, feel like I must try it. Not sure if I will go back.

4. Smoothie House 思慕昔 Mango shaved ice
It is good, but not fantastic. The mango shave ice is definitely a bit pricely at nt$180. This is one of the more famous place at yongkang street

  15 Yongkang street

5.  豐盛食堂
We went to this place by chance. We were just wandering around. We realise a lot of tourists and taiwanese dine here. This place has nice decoration. The food is definitely good. The interesting thing is that you can order by pieces for some items. We ordered 3 ribs because only 3 out of 4 us want to eat. Soup was ok, ours is cabbage and somthing soup. The ribs although slightly fattening, is delicious. The pumpkin with sesame is interesting and taste not bad. Price wise will be around S$15 to S$30 per person, it depends on how much you order and of course, seafood will cost more.

6. 芋头大王
I am not a fan of yam, only a fan of chewy yam balls.
My mum loved yam. I googled and found this shop which sell yam related desserts and shaved ice. The shaved ice is slight cheaper than smoothie house, slight difference. The hot yam desserts tasted much better than the cold ones. Yam balls tend to be more chewy. Can try.

臺北市永康街15之4號 ( it is a bit hard to locate the shop, it is tucked in corner. It is on same street as smoothie house, just less than a minutes walk after smoothie house)

7. Others
There are a lot more good food and resturants and cafes. The more hip and happening ones, are not to my parents' taste buds. I walked pass some and tell myself next time. I read about this few places online.

IOU cafe looks good, a great place for cafe hopping lovers.
No 9, Yongkang street  02 2358 7771

度小月 is another famous eatery at yongkang street. served noodles.
No.9-1, Yongkang Street, Da’an District, Taipei City

8.  Convenience stores and a small supermarket. As much snacks as you want.

This is not really a shopping paradise, the only thing in abundance other than restaurants will be pharmacy and a big Wastons. Don't plan to shop much here, plan to eat a lot.

Taipei free and easy : Day 3 shopping eating and night market

Mitsukoshi opposite Tango Hotel, there is an agnes b cafe.

zhongshan underground shopping street.中山地下街
nothing interesting..

Shopping at Wu fen Pu at Houshanpi station
五分埔
I bought a few dresses but I find them a bit too short, maybe taiwanese are petite.

Took a cab to Taipei 101 and tried out that Ding Tai Fung.
think it taste better than singapore

Taipei 101

We walked around 15-20 mins from Taipei 101 before reaching /Tong Hua street night market(Lin Jiang street night market)
To me, is like the other night markets.. Not a must visit place.

Shida night market 師大路夜市
Lots of food and is very crowded. They are also shops selling clothes and stationary.
Quite a lot of things to see and it catered to the younger generation.
Awfullychocolate from singapore at shida.
Evans burger at Shida market
recommended by 食尚玩家
To me, it is so so only. Rather leave my stomach for the interesting street food at the night market.

Cute cakes

We love to visit hypermart when we are overseas as they do sell local snacks and food stuffs eaten by locals and not just tourist. It opened till midnight. choose one near to our hotel as we need to take a cab back. We walked from a train station, stopping by a night market before arriving at the supermarket.

Shopping!

Contact lens are cheaper in taiwan, can just get from any optical shop.
Bought a lot of Oral B stuff because they were having some promotions.
Taiwan mAgazines are definitely cheaper

Taipei Day 2 free and easy : Taipei 101 countown 台北101跨

One of the main reason we visited Taipei is because I wanted to attend their Taipei 101 countdown concert as it looked so cool on TV.
and I do like to experience new year countdown in different countries.

Just got out off the train station and follow the crowd.
We reached around 6+.

some of street permanences and events

Balloons and lightsticks for sale.
Samsung was giving off some free lightsticks at the exit of the train station

Taipei 101 as we were walking to the concert area.

We reached around half an hour before the concert started. We can not really see the artists stage clearly but we can see the screen clearly. Most important is to get a good spot to enjoy the fire works.
As it was crowded, it was quite warm. I bought heat packs but there was no use for there.
Remember to eat your dinner, visit the toilet and travel with as little things as possible. We stood there from 6pm+ to 1am, we only bought our phone, camera and some money.
It will be hard to go back to the same good spot if you go out to visit the loo.
It did get a bit boring in the middle, we still have our hp to entertain us.
Expect some pushing and rude people. A girl standing behind me was leaning on me and trying to push me so I will move nearer to the stage and so will her. But there was this big guy in front of me and if I lean forward, my head will be buried in his back.
I had my own quiet ways to deal with her :D and she did give up pushing me in the end and push some other people and manage to move near to stage.
There was Mayday, Magic Power, Della, Da Mouth, Van Fan, Cindy Yen, Aska Yang, Jeremy Liu , grasshoppers and a lot more

taking a photo

all ready for the countdown. Politicians, stars all ready

 almost here..

Fireworks..
Am quite pleased with my photos as I did not have a tripod and my camera is not a DSLR.
The finale, show luo..
was able to get closer to stage as some people left after the countdown

The leftover mess.
I was so hungry. There were some convenience stores and stalls selling food but not a lot.
I bought dougnuts, Then I bought more food at the convenience store near the hotel.
It was hard to get a taxi. We took a train home.
There was a huge queue outside the train station but everything was orderly.
