Taiwan Taipei free and easy : Night market Shida Raohe 師大夜市 饒河街觀光夜市

The difference between Shida and other night market is that it has a much younger crowd and sell stuffs that suit the younger generation. The main reason is because it is located beside  a univeristy.
Shida has a lot of shop selling accessories, clothes, snacks, stationery and food.
They have a lot of cute and interesting stationery. I bought a sanrio diary which i received a lot of compliments from teenagers for less than sgd$10, it will cost more than $30 in Singapore. Can spend time exploring the shops. Raohe is easier to navigate as it is just 1 main lane. Shida will be slightly more complicated with little lanes of shops.
You can find some cafes and bakeries to chill out after shopping.

This is one of my favourite food at shida. Love the 滷味. I love to eat this with their instant noodles.

There are some small bakeries and cafes at Shida which is not found at other night markets.

Raohe night market 饒河街觀光夜市

Raohe is becoming very crowded. I prefer to come here compared to Shilin as Shilin is too crowded and packed with too much tourist.
Raohe is not really a place to shop, the stores at the sides are just normal to me.
The food selection is not bad.
This time I visit, there are not a lot of stalls selling bbq seafood, can choose one with seats to enjoy your meal.
There is slightly more variety of food here compared to Shida.
And it is quite easy to navigate, just a straight lane. So if you are travelling in big groups, it is easy to meetup at the end.

Taipei 101

We walked around 15-20 mins from Taipei 101 before reaching /Tong Hua street night market(Lin Jiang street night market)
To me, is like the other night markets.. Not a must visit place.

Shida night market 師大路夜市
Lots of food and is very crowded. They are also shops selling clothes and stationary.
Quite a lot of things to see and it catered to the younger generation.

To me, it is so so only. Rather leave my stomach for the interesting street food at the night market.

Cute cakes

We love to visit hypermart when we are overseas as they do sell local snacks and food stuffs eaten by locals and not just tourist. It opened till midnight. choose one near to our hotel as we need to take a cab back. We walked from a train station, stopping by a night market before arriving at the supermarket.

Shopping!

Contact lens are cheaper in taiwan, can just get from any optical shop.
Bought a lot of Oral B stuff because they were having some promotions.
Taiwan mAgazines are definitely cheaper

Taipei Day 1 free and easy : Danshui Melange cafe and shilin

Took the HSR from Chaiyi to Taipei

At the train station, topping up our youyou card or ezlink card

Our complimentary youyou card from Taiwan Tourism Board.
Can visit the Taiwan Tourism board in Singapore before travelling, gifts may differ.

Behind our hotel,  at Zhongshan station there is a famous dessert store 米朗琪咖啡館MELANGE CAFÉ. Need to queue like half an hour before getting a seat.
However, they have a number system which means you can shop around while waiting for your turn.
The food was good, not very sure is because we were starving that day. The price was not cheap, just average as it come up to tw1210 (sg60) but we did ordering quite a lot of things.
The best item should be the waffles with the strawberries..

It started to rain and it was very cold at Danshui,淡水. The place seems like a ghost town at night. Maybe because it was raining and it was 8pm. We took a bus to Danshui and

took a train to Danshui lao jie before walking to the train station.

This can also be found at shilin.

Danshui lao jie 淡水老街
The place to snack. The grilled scallops was good and cheap with a lot of interesting flavour.
We tried a muay chee made from milk, it was interesting and not cheap.
