Hong kong : Shopping at pharmacy, h&M, esprit and tips

Shopping at H&M. According to people, H&M is cheaper and the variety is better at Hong Kong. I am not really sure about that as I don't visit Singapore H&M often.
I visited two branches in Singapore, the one at Langham place and the other one at Tsui Sha Tsui, at Canton Road.
The one at Tsim Sha Tsui is definitely bigger with teenagers and kid's clothings, will definitely recommended that. Petite girls can buy from the teenages' range too.
But Langam Place has freebies and privileges for tourist at other shops, not for H&M. I received a small laneign sample this time.

Hong KOng is full of shops selling beauty products and makeup.
I was attracted to Sanrio stuff so I bought some.
My mum bought Olay and Loreal stuff at 40-50% cheaper than Singapore price.
2B slimming products are cheaper in Hong Kong too.
Meiji collagen can be bought at hk$188, which is around $30. I think in Singapore, it retails for around $60.

Lung Shing Pharmacy 龍城大藥房.
28 Granville Rd Tsim Sha Tsui b2 exit. around 5-10minutes walk.
They have a larger variety and supposedly cheaper Sasa and Bonjour, hence the place is very very crowded with locals and foreigners. I was pushed around quite often.
Not allowed to try the perfumes, so try it elsewhere and buy it from here.
We bought shu Uemera makeup base at 40% cheaper compared to Singapore price.
The queue is super long. Take turns to queue and shop. The more expensive and branded products (clinque, estee lauder, laneign, shu uemera and etc) and perfumes are kept at the counter,so plan what you are going to buy and take notes of prices at Bonjour or other shops before coming here to buy as you do not want to come here and queue again.
The people here are not exactly friendly or helpful.
Most important, payment in cash only.

Foudn this sportshouse which sell sports products at quite good price. The cons, limited size, the shoes I like do not have my size.
Passed by it while walking to avenue of stars using the underpass from sheraton

Cute things to buy.

Esprit factory outlets.
I am not a fan of Esprit but the price is much cheaper than singapore. A good place to get basic and good quality stuff.
Esprit was having an extra 40% for some items, minimum 3 items purchased.
I managed to get Esprit tee at s$10, shorts and denim skirts at around S$20+.
I think is a good buy as the quality is good.

Other outlets are at
Citygates at Tung Chung top floor
China Hongkong city (FErry terminal to Macau) at 1st floor and 3rd floor.

Citygates outlet used to be favourite, now it is getting very crowded and messy
There are 1 outlet at north point and another at new terrorities.

BRanded goods should be cheaper in Hong Kong due to favourable exchange rate and also  no tax is being charged.
However, do your research before buying.
Hong kong has a lot big shopping malls, like harbour city, times squares. Most of them have discount or privileges for tourist. Check with the information counter before making your purchases.
Mango and Zara should be cheaper in Hong kong too.
and if you are going to markets, fa yeun, mongkok, temple street or ya liu street. Remember to be thicked skinned and bargain.

I did not manage to visit Lai Chi Kok, the wholesale fashion market as they were closed on the day I visited, Sunday.

Have fun. :D
Remember to bring your own recyclable shopping bags as they do charge for shopping bags in hong kong

Cheap shopping.
shopping at mongkok: Ladies market and Argyle

Hong kong : Macdonalds and KFC

I never try but I just find the Ginerbread latte cute.

I visited KFC, because my dad is a fan of KFC. It is worth going to as there are so many things to try out which is not available in Singapore.
They have the eight layers burger,  flava roast chicken burger with bacon, hot wings with 3 flavour, mushroom rice, shark fins soup, baked chicken, criton hot tea.
The 3 flavour differs by a bit, the shark fins soup is a bit too salty.
The rest is good. My favourite is hot wings and the baked chicken.
They provide plastic gloves for people who ordered the fried chicken.

Hong Kong: Desserts 坤記糕品 Maxim Bakery

Passed by this shop while walking from 強記飯店 Keung Kee Meat shop to Times square.
Traditional Desserts. My mum said this is better as it is more solid and scrunchy.
It is at canal east road. After you cross the bridge, where people are holding slippers and helping you hit the little people in you life.

坤記糕品
深水埗北河街,地鐵 B2 出口一出轉右就是
Sham Shui Po, Exit B2 turn right. Traditional food.
My first visit

Bought this from the bakery beside my hotel, Cityview.
It is like mochi skin with mango and cream inside. I like.

Another MAngo snack bought at bakery at Sham Shui Po.
MAngo at hong Kong taste good everywhere.

I am a fan of Maxim chiffon bread.
I will cart home a big bag of it every time I am there.
I like the texture.
This texture is soft and fluffy. I usually buy at the airport and hand carry it up the plane. Maxim confectionery is at the arrival hall.
Sadly, this time round, the shop ran out of this the bread. :(

My parents prefer to buy the wife's biscuit from local bakery as it is cheaper and also fresher.
They will go around and try out different bakeries around the neighbourhood where we are staying and buy from the one that suit their platter the most.
The variety definitely lose out to the famous brands as they only have the traditional flavour, packaging wise is also not as nice.
We brought our own boxes to pack the biscuits and then slot them in between our clothes in our big check-in luggages. Hand carry is possible too. We did not bring enough boxes, so I dropped by Jusco and bought a hk$12 big plastic box to store the biscuit.
Jusco living is a shop that sell almost everything at hk$12.
The good thing is you can choose the kind of biscuit you like, sweetness and texture. It is very cheap hk$5 for two and they are like palm-sized.
Should be able to keep them for a few days like normal pastries. My mum bought this to my relatives' houses and they love it too. And store them in the fridge and heat up if you are worried about keeping them out in the open in singapore hot and humid weather.

Wanted to go Tim Ho Wan for breakfast but it opened at 10am.
bought a rice roll with crispy you tiao and pork floss for breakfast at a shop near cityview.
Yummy.

famous for bird nest biscuit,雞仔餅, almond biscuit, egg biscuit, beancurd roll with shrimp roll.
I have not tried out the snacks I bought except for the bird nest biscuit and beancurd roll. Beancurd roll has to be eaten on same day and bird's nest cake in 3 days.
The bird nest biscuit was sold out when I went there after mak's noodle in the evening.
Make another trip after visiting Lin Heung Tea House.
The beancurd roll with shrimp roll has a subtle sweetness to it. Quite like it.
The bird's nest cakes cost hk$45 for six pieces. Not really that cheap.
It taste like the white glutinous cake wrapped in pink paper we eat in Singapore. I like to eat that so I like to eat this too.

Mak's Noodle 麥奀雲吞麵世家
Voted as one of the best wanton noodle
77 Wellington St., Central.
One bowl of wanton noodles is around hk$32.
I love HongKong Wanton Noodles for the chewy noodles and shrimp wanton. This is good but did not find this expectionally good.

Maxim's food
It is everywhere in hong Kong. Chinese fast food.
Grab a bite at the airport before boarding.
Wanton noodle is good but not as good as Mak's noodle.
The roast duck was quite good too.

hong kong : agnes b cafe

I actually have no intention of visiting agnes b cafe while in hong kong, just happen to pass by and they look so pretty. The one above is the one at causeway bay, times square.

Then as I was walking to Lung Shing Pharmacy, pass by the one at K-11. Beautiful enough to make me walk in.

The cakes look good but I just had breakfast.
Decide to order the the coffee. It is not that cheap but not that expensive either, around starbucks price and they do have some interesting drinks like rose flavoured, ginger flavoured or creme brulee flavoured cafe au lait.
I picked a safe but interesting choice, creme brulee. yummy.

 Beautiful coffee paper cup.

They sell some agnes b tumbler, xmas gifts sets, chocolate and toy rabbits.

Hong kong: 兴记Hing Kee

Visited this after I finish shopping at Temple street. Started from Jordan Station and just walked pass a small park, fortune tellers and you find this stall. They seems to open 3 other branches. After the meal, can just walk to Yau ma Tei MTR.
I try something different. The 避風塘 clams, means with fried garlic. It taste good but the clams were a bit skinny. Maybe should try the crab if you don't mind getting messy.
For the claypot rice, add in the soya sauce and sesame sauce yourself and then mixed it. Quite fun and you can control the taste of it. What I like best is the rice, it is solid and also not mushy and fragrant.

兴记Hing Kee
(19 Temple Street )extreme end of temple street, near Yau ma tei MTR station
Oyster Egg,claypot rice, oyster egg and urine prawn

First visit to Hing Kee
Temple Street

hong kong : Kam Wah Cafe 金華冰廳

Famous for their polos buns 菠蘿包
They have a lot of variations. The buns are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
