SWitzerland free and easy : Zurich Accomodation

Switzerland has very high cost of living.
So my first instinct was to stay at apartment instead of a hotel or hostel, I can cook my own meals at times.
I heard of people eating cold bread because meals are too expensive. Not a fan of cold fan except sashimi.
A fast food meal in switzerland can set you back by s$15 to 20.
We were deciding between Zurich and interlaken as Interlaken is a popular base for most tourist.
After adding up the train hours for all the journey, we realise staying in Zurich is only around half an hour extra journey time and is more accessible to Germany which we were be visiting too.
Looking a apartment at the right place and location was not easy, this place cost around CHF771 for 3 nights. which fits our budget of around S$200 for night for 3 person.
The room was spacious and very nicely decorated..
 Wifi is free and fast.
There is a dining table, lot of shelves to put your stuff, a big kitchen, hangers and a toilet.
Lot of pillows at the bed too. The kitchen is fully equipped, it has lots of pots, pans and cutlery, kettle, 4 stoves and also an oven.
Sometimes when we are tired, just buy a pizza from the supermarket and just throw it in the oven. We can cook our own meal with food from the supermarket and we did brought something over from Singapore. Haha.. I bought rice, maggi mee, some mushrooms, chinese soup herbal pack and canned chicken curry. Not just cold sandwiches and maggi mee. We do eat some of our meals at restaurants.
The negative is there are only 2 chairs so it is hard for 3 person to have a meal together. The bed is a queen size bed so is a better fit for two person . As we are 3 small girls, we fit quite well. The toilet is a bit too dark. Downstairs is a pub, you may hear some voices at night but usually we are too tired to bother and it feel safer when you know is not too quiet.
Staying in an apartment means you have to do the cleaning up.
The location is great, walking to it from train station is around 10 minutes, or just a tram stop away.
There are shops and restaurants and supermarket within walking distance, less than 5 minutes.
The owner was super nice, I was allowed to check in early as the person who stayed left early and as there is no one booking the apartment on the day we are leaving, we were allowed to stay till 4pm so we can spend lot more time exploring switzerland and not running back to hotel to check out.
Normal hotel usually do not allowed late check out.

There is a washer and dryer too.
The flat is located on 1st floor which means you have to climb a flight of stairs as first floor means 2nd floor in Singapore terms.

I will definitely stay here again or recommend people to stay here for people who do not want to spend too much on accommodation but too not want a place too old and shabby.
Location is good and we save quite a lot on meals because of the well equipped kitchen.

From the supermarket, just throw into oven and yummy..

Singapore : Female magazine The collection Edition NArs GWp

Bought the female anniversary set for $18 from Kinokuniya

Comes in a very big box.
It is a good box to recycle and store stuff as it is hard and pretty.
Two pouches. Pretty and chic. Black with red zip or red with black zips

roomy

Zips are big so should be quite easy to use

My free gifts from NArs was a Lipstick. Was hoping for something else as I seldom use lipstick.

Singapore Eats : Jewel Cafe and BAr at RAngoon road

The interiors.
The place is not crowded even on a Friday night.
Was expecting it to be crowded due to it being featured on newsapaper just a few days ago.
It is simple but good looking place.

Southern Fried Chicken, add $2 to upgrade fries to Truffle fries.
Chilli Crab Pasta.
Southern fried chicken was not bad but not understanding.
I don't seems to understand Truffle so I shall not comment.
I love the chilli crab pasta, it is a must try.
I like the chunky crab bits, the chilli gravy and the cute little fried mantou. A must try.

Ordered a tiramisu for desserts.
Was good but not understanding.

The menu

129 RAngoon Road
Directions: take to Farrer Park Station and take escalator to city square, but do not exit to city square, take opposite exit. Cross the road diagonal and walk downwards for around 5 minutes)

Singapore EATs : Medzs

Tried out the Medzs Value Lunch yesterday.
The price for a meal at a restuarant in town, this price is considered quite decent to me.
The concept is like a mache, you have to walk to each counter to order food and all the information will be stored in a little card.
SEt A:MAin course with a drink is $8.90.
SEt B: MAin Course with a drink and salad/rosti/dessert is $10.90.
Set C : Main course with drink and dessert and salad/rosti is $12.90.
Main course selection change from day to day, you have to walk to each counter and look at the black board stating the main course for the value lunch for that day, there was around 5-8 selections
Rosti is plain rosti with sour cream and cheese.
Dessert is various from day to day, there is 2 desserts to choose from.
I ordered a Set A and a Set C and share the rosti and dessert with my sister.

The main attaction of the restaurant, beautiful lamps.

Servings are not that big but will do for girls..
We had pasta with ham and mushrooms and boneless chicken for the main course.
A rosti.
And chocolate moose for desserts
and ice lemon teas.
The main course was quite delicious, serving size is average.
The rosti is a bit weird as there is this big piece of cheese on top of it and also it is a bit oily.
The chocolate moose is good but not fantastic.

Will be good if you want not to expensive lunch at a decent place with decent food when you are the city.

Singapore Eats : Pietro Ristorante Italiano

Went to this restaurant to celebrate my sister's birthday and also because it is located near my place.
Not a need to travel.
First impression was ok, the place is simply done.
The place was quite packed.
Hence, it was a bit noisy so if you are hoping for a romantic dinner, this is not the place.
If you are planning a gathering with friends or families, this is the place.
Complimentary bread.

We ordered two main dishes: Risotto alla Pescatora and Rivioli.
The servings was a bit small, so intent was for us to order appetizer?
It was not bad but not fantastic. Sister was disappointged because the Rivioli was supposed to have scallops, but we only taste fish.

Ordered Pizza Margherita as we were still hungry.
This is good, I like the thin and fragrant crust, toppled with cheese. It is simple but delicious.
My favourite dish of the day.

Tortino di Lava con Rum
Chocolate lava cake with rum and vanilla icecream.
It is good.

They have one for one promotion during lunch for certain dishes.
More worth to go during lunch.

Dongbaek Park,Haeundae Beach and Dongbaekseom Island

Chiangmai free and easy : Street food and restaurant food

We were walking to our travel agency, saw this small little stall with a sweet little couple selling rotee.
It is like prata, with special ingredients.
The chocolate banana should be the most popular one.
Quite yummy.
This can be found at the night market too.

This is the famous Ping Ping SEafood restaurant at Anusarn Night Market.
Will not really recommend this. Not really authentic Thai food to me. The price was average, cost 1050 baht for the 6 dishes. The tom yam soup has a very strong taste of the spices that we did not drink it at all.
The chicken was too dry.
It is a popular restaurant for tour guides to bring loads of tourists.

The night market has stalls selling snacks, sweets and ice cream.

They poured the actual fruits in and just blended.
Healthy food juices to keep us in best conditions during our trip.

7-11 and other convenience stalls are all around. Some are for breakfast and some is for me to snack during long sightseeing trips.

 Burger King breakfast.

Khao Soi (Egg Noodle Curry) and Satay and Papaya salad
I love the noodles, not too spicy and two different texture of noodles (one fried).
I ate the chicken version but I heard there is the seafood version.
My tour guide bought me to this stall, no idea how to get there but the place looks very clean.
I love their satay too because it pure meat, I don't really like Singapore satay at times as there are too much fats.

Cafe at Chiangmai University

FRuits!!

We followed some guides and went to a food court near our hotel.
My advice is don't go there. I think is inside Kalare night market.
The food looks like they have been on displayed forever, does not look fresh. My pad thai looks it is soaked in oil and it is not really cheap, one plate is like a few Singapore dollars

Dustin D2 organised a night bazaar just outside the hotel.
Sell delicious and clean street food. There are grilled squid and satay.
The small white dish in the middle photo is crispy fried chicken wings, not sure what is called but I know is delicious

Because the food at the food court was too horrible to be eaten. We went in search of another restuarant, not sure is because the previous food was too horrible.
The food here is very tasty and is only a few dollars more expenisve than the food court.
The walls are filled with scribblings of past patrons.
The good thing about this place is that they let you decide what to go into your curry or noodles so if you don't want all the extra frills, you can just don't ask for it.

We had macdonalds as we were quite in a hurry to go to the airport and it is different from Singapore. We had fried chicken and something that looks like Zinger. Not bad.  Between, there seems to be no KFC at chiangmai.
