bANGKOK FREE AND EASY: Mercure hotel National stadium

Mercure Hotel. The room is spacious. No bathtub but there is no need for one when you are at Bangkok because massage and spa are all around.

There are universal plugs so not a need for adapter.

The Swimming pool

The view from the swimming pool

The difference between Mercure and Holiday Inn is the room size. Mercure room size is bigger and spacious. It has only a swimming pool at the top floor which is free for people staying at Mercure.
The best thing about Mercure and holiday Inn is that it is just beside the train station and there is an escalator going upwards. It is good for people who intend to take the train and not the taxi.

Taiwan Taipei free and easy: Massage and Karaoke 按一個讚舒壓按摩棧

按一個讚舒壓按摩棧
臺北市大安區復興南路二段102號2樓
102 Daan district City Fuxing south road section 2 Taipei
(02)2325-3308 (02)2325-3309
After all the eating and shopping at Taiwan, found a place to go for a massage. The place is cute and clean. The masseurs are visually challenged but professional.
It is owned by a famous Taiwan singer.
Charges are 500nt for every 1.5 hours. They have foot massage and body massage. Best to give a call and enquire and make a reseravation before going down.
Right below the massage, on the first floor. There is this shop 永和豆漿大王, serving good soya bean and you tian (fried dough).

A good way to rest the tired legs is to go sing Karaoke. For every karaoke room in Taiwan, it comes with a toilet. It is good for people who has to go toilet constantly. Their karaoke place are every grand, and is a few storeys high. Therefore, it is quipped with a lift. I always wonder if I step into a night club by accident.Different branches have different pricing, more popular branches will be slightly more expensive. It is cheapest to go in the morning as there is 40 percent and weekdays are cheaper. The price list is Taiwan dollars and is the pricing is for per hour. However, each person is supposed to spend at least nt$99 on food and drinks, can combine the amount to purchase food and drinks.
The negative thing is there is no hanyu pin ying so we have a bit of difficulty looking for the songs. However, the selection of chinese songs is definitely better.

Taiwan Taipei free and easy : Night market Shida Raohe 師大夜市 饒河街觀光夜市

The difference between Shida and other night market is that it has a much younger crowd and sell stuffs that suit the younger generation. The main reason is because it is located beside  a univeristy.
Shida has a lot of shop selling accessories, clothes, snacks, stationery and food.
They have a lot of cute and interesting stationery. I bought a sanrio diary which i received a lot of compliments from teenagers for less than sgd$10, it will cost more than $30 in Singapore. Can spend time exploring the shops. Raohe is easier to navigate as it is just 1 main lane. Shida will be slightly more complicated with little lanes of shops.
You can find some cafes and bakeries to chill out after shopping.

This is one of my favourite food at shida. Love the 滷味. I love to eat this with their instant noodles.

There are some small bakeries and cafes at Shida which is not found at other night markets.

Raohe night market 饒河街觀光夜市

Raohe is becoming very crowded. I prefer to come here compared to Shilin as Shilin is too crowded and packed with too much tourist.
Raohe is not really a place to shop, the stores at the sides are just normal to me.
The food selection is not bad.
This time I visit, there are not a lot of stalls selling bbq seafood, can choose one with seats to enjoy your meal.
There is slightly more variety of food here compared to Shida.
And it is quite easy to navigate, just a straight lane. So if you are travelling in big groups, it is easy to meetup at the end.

Taiwan TAipei free and easy : Dongmen 東門捷運站 food part 2 東門市場

東門市場 is just located at Dongmen station 東門捷運站, exit 2.
Turn into a small lane and just start exploring the market.
Operation timing should be around 7 to 8 am to around 4 pm in the afternoon.
A place to have breakfast or lunch.

1. 黃媽媽米粉湯/東門滷肉飯

I am not very sure how to give direction. Just explore the market, it is somewhere to the segment which sells clothes or behind somewhere 東門鴨莊.
The food is quite cheap, going for arounht nt20 for a plain bowl of noodles, there around nt30 to nt50 for the side dishes. The noodles looks bland but actually it taste quite good and goes very weel with the side dishes. If you think noodles is too plain for you, there is a stall selling 滷肉飯. Quite memorable food for me. Will definitely go back if I am back at Taipei.

2. 東門江記豆花 ( Dongmen Jiang ji soya bean)
They add peanuts to the soya bean unlike singapore version. We actually packed it back to our hotel to enjoy. It is good.

3. 東門鴨莊 ( Dongmen Duck place)
Read about it online. Ordered a pack back to eat. Nicely cooked rice with meat. If the the noodles is not meaty enough for you, there is a place to catch on your proteins and fats, with a servings of vegetables.

4. Others.
There are a lot of stalls selling yummy cooked food that can be brought back to the hotel to enjoy or have it just there.

What we bought back to our hotel to enjoy.

There are lots of stalls selling fresh vegetables, seafoods, fruits and vegetables.
If you need to stock up some fresh fruits, this is a place to get some.
It is an interesting and clean market to explore, experience some of the local culture.
It is not very big, around an hour will do, not including the time spend taking photos and eating.
